1U locking latch for sliding rack shelves

The BT-LATCH

The BT-LATCH is our way of ensuring your rack shelf remains in the closed position during transit. The BT-Latch systems ensures a positive lock securing your gear and cabling from sliding out and damaging during travel.

If you have ever setup your rig with a sliding rack shelf you may have realized that the stock "locking" mechanism just doesn't hold. Once you add the weight of the gear to the shelf + the cabling, they add weight/force to want to push the rack shelf to the out position. If you are utilizing a "fly" style rig that drops into a foamed Pelican style case, this can be even more problematic as there is a gap between the foam and the case itself. This gives quite a bit of room for movement on the shelf and cause damage to your gear, case, or both.

Compatibility

We designed these to work with the Gator 1U Sliding Shelf (GRW-SHELF1SLD) as these are what we use the most in our fly rack systems. These latches will work with most 1U sliding shelves on the market. If the shelf is flush to the rack rail/ear then the latch should work just fine with the shelf.

These latches will mount to either side of the shelf. If you want to be super careful, you can even install a latch to both sides of the shelf.

Installation

Installing these to the rack is extremely simple. The metal plate of the latch is thin and goes directly over the rack ear of your shelf. Simply unscrew the two rack screws holding the shelf to the rack on the side you'd like to install the latch. Place the plate over the rack ear of the shelf and position the latch so that the shelf will clear the latch when in the open position (up or down). Run the rack screw through the latch and the shelf into the rack. Your are done!
