A detailed look at our custom pedalboard/rig wiring process with this two-tiered flat board from Vertex Effects and hinged riser from Fix Pedalboards to create a second tier. Full rundown/pedal order below. Also, a list of all cabling/connectors used on the board for all you DIY cats out there.

Expression Control:

The pedalboard uses a Moog expression pedal to control multiple effects. This is achievable by using the Mission Engineering Expressionator. The Expressionator allows you to toggle between the pedals expression jacks connected to it for control, as well as save presets. The main reason this device was necessary was due to a few of the pedals not having MIDI built in - OR pedals that had MIDI but expression control that wasn't available via MIDI control.

Audio Signal Path:

The board is wired in series. The Wampler Pedals Terraform is wired Pre & Post in separate loops for a bit more tonal options. Here is the full pedal order:

  • Input on custom BTPA I/O Box to Pitchfork
  • Wah
  • Volume
  • PBC Loop 1 - Fender Pelt Fuzz
  • PBC Loop 2 - Wampler Terraform Pre
  • PBC Loop 3 - Vertex Dynamic Distortion
  • PBC Loop 4 - Vertex Boost MK2
  • PBC Loop 5 - Vertex SSS
  • PBC Loop 6 - Wampler Terraform Post
  • PBC Insert Loop (Loop 7) - Source Audio Effects Collider
  • PBC Out (Stereo) - to Left and Right outputs on custom I/O Box
